Toyota has again shown its interest in investing in a plant in the Western part of Africa this time, namely the Ivory Coast. Facing a downfall in the sales revenue from the developed countries, firms like Toyota, Volkswagen, and Nissan are again coming towards the African market to look for the cheap manufacturing and untapped assembling of cars.
In the recent Japan-Africa conference in Yokohama, a deal was signed off by the Ivory Coast government and the CEOs of Toyota Tsusho to set up a plant on the Ivory Coast for the manufacturing of Toyota vehicles there.
Toyota's CEO, Mr. Ichiro Kashitani, signed the agreement with the Prime Minister of Ivory Coast, Mr. Gon Coulibaly. However, it has not come to public awareness of how big this plant would be or the number of vehicles manufactured in the Ivory Coast. The only thing mentioned is that this plant will commence before the year ends.
Toyota Tsusho has also partnered with CFAO, the leading automobile retailer all over Africa. With this partnership, Toyota has already been making its car parts in Africa for a long. Besides Toyota, leading car firms like Nissan, Honda, and Volkswagen have also set up their plants in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.
